When she finally woke, Cinderpelt called Firestar to her den and said, "This cat has quite a story to tell. If you listen to her you will understand about her reasons for the little incident she created." And so Firestar listened. He learned the name of the she-cat, Swan, and of her bloody past.
On the third night he received a prophecy from Star Clan,
When Fire, Sand, & Swan unite
Four will become two and Sol will rise
When the six finally appear destiny is as an end
Three other cats received this prophecy. These cats knew then what was to come and prepare themselves for the rise of Sol.
The rest of the story is correct, but Swan is never mentioned, so let me just say that Swan's life was not only saved but she went on to become a full warrior of Thunder Clan.
In book 5 of the third arc Erin tells of a cat named Sol and of this mysterious "power of three" focused on Firestar's grandchildren. This part of the story is incorrect. In fact the enitre third arc is wrong (meaning that the fourth is off too). Here's what really happened:
*Thunder Clan and the other cats were very peaceful. Not a single battle had occurred in two moons. Suddenly Sol, a stranger, predicts a solar eclipse and he tells the cats that Star Clan does not exist. Shadow Clan believes him and refuses to come to gatherings. Thunder Clan speaks against this, but Shadow Clan will not listen. After a bloody argument a fierce war starts.
Apparently the four lake Clans weren't the only cats Sol had visited and corrupted. During the war Sol disappeared. Shadow Clan continued to fight though and before long Sol returned with an army. Knowing things were falling apart for the Clans, Firestar, travels with Thunder Clan to Sky Clan. Being in Firestar's debt, the Clan took the shivering cats in and offered them a place to live, a forest land just past their border.
The forest was amazingly similar to the original forest the Clan had come from and it was bursting with prey. After a little more exploration the cats found an island, and after some debate they decided to send some brave cats who could swim to examine it.
When the scouts returned they reported that the island was small, perfect for a camp. The only problem was that you had to swim to get to it.
Suddenly, there was a rustle in the bushes and two cats appeared.
They were River Clan. That was obvious.
"It's Mistyfoot and Mothwing," Firestar confirmed. Mistyfoot was not only a River Clan cat, but also part Thunder Clan. Many warriors' hackles raised, but with a flick of Mistystar's tail she signaled that she meant no harm.
"I am here, Firestar, to join your Clan. I have only half of my Warriors with me. Leopardstar and the others joined Sol's new Clan, The Clan of True Sight, or something ridiculous like that," she mewed, loudly.
"The Clan of True Sight? What else do you know of these cats?" Firestar replied.
"It is a 'Clan' comprised of River Clan and Shadow Clan. They do not believe in Star Clan, rather, they think that there are no shining cats at the end of a warrior's life. Only blackness and despair. In order to become a warrior you must undergo terrible training, in which the apprentices have to endure tasks that involve hardship and pain, in order to 'prepare them for what is to come'. It's truly terrible. Even Mothwing here, who doesn't believe in Star Clan anyways, refused to join."
"She's right Firestar, I would die before I subjected myself to a horrible place like that," Mothwing added, loyally.
"You say only River Clan and Shadow Clan. What has befallen Wind Clan?"
"I'm not sure. When we left they were still fighting, but they stand no chance. Star Clan protect all of their poor souls."
"Yes, Star Clan protect them."
The assembled cats bowed their heads in anguish.
"But, returning to our prior affair, I have come to join you with the half of my Clan that is still loyal. And a good thing too because you seem to need to get to that island," Mistfoot, now Mistystar, because of Leopardstar's betrayal, said, with determination in her eyes.
"But Mistystar, you must think this through. There cannot be and will not be two leaders at once."
"I already understand the terms. I was looking forward to being a warrior in a new land. Besides…" Mistyfoot began, but she was cut off by more rustling.
"Onestar!" Firestar exclaimed.
"Firestar! Crowfeather and I wish to join you as well,"
"But what about your Clan?"
"Ashfoot will be leader now, we've already discussed it."
Firestar looked at too Clan leaders, "How did you find us anyway?"
"Well, we just saw you leaving and realized that we should follow. There was nothing left at the lake for us," Mistystar sighed.
"We left as soon as River Clan joined the fight. The scent trail was still good and we tracked you here," Onestar, replied.
There was more rustling and the mottled head of Tawneypelt appeared, "Can we join too? Some of Shadow Clan does not agree with Sol and we need a home."
"All right all of you! You may all join!" Firestar proclaimed.
And so it was set.
The other cats, a mixing of Wind, River, and Shadow went off to find there own land to settle. River Clan helped the Thunders and Shadows across the lake and everyone was happy.
One day, a runner arrived bearing news from the other Clans. The runner reported that good land had been found that suited both Shadow and Wind Clans. It was said to be a miraculous blessing from Star Clan. The running also reported that borders had been set and had gone into effect. The runner ended without he news that the two new Clans and Sky Clan would meet every full moon, much like the former Clans' gatherings, at the meeting point of the three territories. The messenger added that this place was marked by a large, solitary tree that seemed climbable.
Over the next few weeks the weather took a turn for the worse and all the cats were worried for the other Clans. The rain was hard and the wind fierce, luckily the camp had been finished quite recently and all the cats were snuggled deep in their warm nests.
As it happened, one of the great trees on Thunder Clan's island camp fell, providing easy access to the camp.
Swansong, previously Swan, was pronounced to be with kits, and all the cats were overjoyed. A few moons later, the queen gave birth to six, an amazing number, beautiful kits, three little queens and three handsome toms, another miracle.
Firestar and the other cats who knew the prophecy gave each other knowing looks. Yes, Sol had risen and many cats had chosen his path of darkness, destroying the Clans as they had known them, but from the ashes the light still lived on, Star Clan still watched over them and the prophecy had come to a close.
